Poetry - Thank You !!

THANK YOU, YEAR

I wanted to blame you.
I wanted to make you responsible
for every death and
negative outcome,
and for all the complicated obstacles set in my way.

I wanted to shake my fist
at your delivering grief to my door and turn my back on the sorrow you dealt.

I wanted to desensitize
my heart in the middle of your tragedy and misfortune,
and numb myself from the on slaughtof fear engulfing me throughout your cataclysm.

Instead, I will stand in the place that’s called Gratitude
and I will say,
Thank You.

Thank you world,
for holding me in your grace each night.

Thank you life,
for keeping me in your protective care.

Thank you friends,
for walking with me in the dark, because I made it through to see the light of the next passage.

Thank you hardship,
for bringing out the real work
that needed to be done from with
into allow for growth and transition.

And the vital truth is,
whatever we so love
is divinely passing through.

Every living thing,
every precious soul,
every single moment—
every leaf on the wind—
will not ever be repeated.

So, on this last given day
when one final road renders
itself to one new,
I will say,
Thank you, Year...
for bringing me here..
